IT all started back in Spring of 2001.

clint johns at Tower Magazines said to me "Hey, we ought to put out a book of TIS articles."

I said "Why?" Suspecting that, as usual, Clint was trying to get me to enter the state of California, where State Police would be waiting.

"I think we can sell scads of them to tourists who don't know any better." He said. "I think if we give it a deceptive title like How to Make Millions by Buying This Book we can both be on a beach somewhere without U.S. extradition, enjoying our ill-gotten gains, before the rubes realize what's happened."

"I'll do it!" I shouted. I think lightening flashed outside.

Okay, so maybe that isn't how it happened, but somehow it did happen, once again without much input from me. I spent the summer largely sitting in a comfortable chair drinking Jack Daniels, emphasis on the word largely. Then POW! A bunch of Pagemaker files appeared out of nowhere. Such is my power.

And so this book was born.
